This article explains how old classroom design doesn't meet the new active learning trends. Past decades would allow twenty square feet per student for rows and chairs in a lecture room. Things have changed over the years and now are designing fifty square feet per student. Active open space is needed to students can collaborate in teams and no longer want rows focused on the instructor lecturing all day long.
