Drones can be used to spray pesticides on farmers fields. This method is substantially more cost effective than renting or owning a helicopter to do the same task. It is more time consuming than using a large tractor, but does not damage any crops or require driving lanes to do so, allowing more crops to be harvested later. with GPS guided autonomous drones, they could in theory run grids spraying the crops down around the clock, only returning to recharge and refill spray fluid, carrying up to 10kg per drone.
