28 October 2021 - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Virtual Learning Centre for Southern Africa (SFS-VLC) achieved another regional milestone by receiving an official accreditation for its online course on African swine fever (ASF) from South African Veterinary Council (SAVC). The ASF online course developed for Southern Africa as a continuous professional development (CPD) activity and its official accreditation by SAVC means the course carries CPD credit. The South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) announced this achievement as part of its routine assessment and acknowledgement of the quality of training activities that build the capacity of veterinarians and veterinary paraprofessionals registered with the SAVC.
