Artificial intelligence is booming in Europe, China, and the US, but it’s still a very male industry.

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

AI is self-reinforcing i.e. it makes life easier and thus makes money. Combination of AI with big data, or the use of large blocks of data exposing patterns, will change e-commerce...and everything else.

Our Ecommerce Trends Deck, published this morning, may break 500 views its first day.

The team at Haiku Deck are great content curators and they support their "power users" with social shares and mentions. They do such a great job creating online community we created a deck about them too (http://shar.es/1XRNN8 ).

Gamify Content Marketing Blows Up
Yesterday I mentioned Gamify along with two other trending Haiku Decks. Gamify gained 1,010 views (+40% gain) in a day. A move that big usually means someone BIG shared. We will look around and figure out who to thank, and hope you will check out and share Gamify Content Marketing too.

THANKS.

Successful content marketing engages over time. Engagement needs online community and a role shift from content creators to community curators and GAME creators.

Content Shock: Why content marketing is not a sustainable strategy - Schaefer

Content Shock: Why content marketing is not a sustainable strategy - Schaefer | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Is the end of the content marketing era in sight?
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

This is an IMPORTANT read and one I keep reading over and over. I agree with the central idea. I disagree with the conclusion. Content marketing is important even if no one reads your stuff.

Crazy?

The content you create says more about you than anything. While the goal of every website must be building community you can't build community if you have no content on your site. Your voice and SELF has to be present and accounted for even if the only purpose it serves is to make people comfortable sharing their content.

More later, in the meantime I'm going to re-read this great post again.

How Storytelling Is The New SEO Went Viral Thanks to POWERFULL Friends

How Storytelling Is The New SEO Went Viral Thanks to POWERFULL Friends | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Storytelling Is The NEW SEO on SlideShare's home page (bottom row, 2nd from right thanks to Ally Greer for the alert :)

2200 + Views In A Day

Some will tell you it is impossible to have content go viral. That powerful forces control the viral headlands. They are (controlled by powerful forces), but it isn't (impossible to have content YOU create go viral).

Here is a blow by blow of how Story Telling Is The New SEO trended enough to be included on the cover of Slideshare today (something I know about from an alert from friends here @Scoopit, Storytelling is bottom row 2nd from right).

Storytelling Is The New SEO Story

I'm presenting Storytelling Is The New SEO tomorrow night at @1918's (Phil Buckley's) SEO Meetup (more info here: http://www.meetup.com/RaleighSEO/events/100105202/

I've been thinking about the "secret" implications of Google's algorithm changes. Navneet Panda helped Google see just how dirty our rooms have become and then they armed a Penguin to make sure we got the message and SEO life, as we knew it was OVER.

Storytelling as practiced by REI, Patagonia and others is the KEY to high engagement and Google is clear on want HIGH ENGAGEMENT from your content.

VIRAL = Good To Have POWERFULL Friends
If you want to have your content go viral it is good to have powerful friends. Storytelling Is The New SEO started going viral because of Scoop.it. The first shares came from my embed on Design Revolution. There are almost 400 shares from that embed as I write this.

I douibled down with Facebook, Twitter, G+, LinkedIn, Tumblr and Pinterest support, but Scoop.it got the ball rolling. Then, once Storytelling Is The Next SEO was trending Slideshare put it on their home page and blew it up (now over 2,300 views and 57 downloads).

I've had several posts go viral and there is always a powerful mentor in the loop. Storytelling proves, once again, it is important to have powerful friends (those you've met and know and others you may not know) to have content go viral.

Will be presenting Storytelling Is The New SEO LIVE tomorrow night starting at 6:30 at Phil's SEO Meetup. Find event details here: https://plus.google.com/events/c46hqgi89ig21oef90qafggoiho

Dads Are Hot Again: Dove's New Campaign Shows What Dads Really Do

Dads Are Hot Again: Dove's New Campaign Shows What Dads Really Do | BI Revolution | Scoop.it

Dove Men+Care’s digital campaign for Father’s Day riffs off the idea that dads are sick of their Ward Cleaver image and want credit for changing diapers, making dinner and consoling heartbroken teens. But this creative isn’t all touchy-feely—it’s based on some hard data.

Marty Note
I'm tired of the MAN as IDIOT trend. 2014 seems to be a redemption year. Men and dads are leading the charge. For a long time the cardboard "stupid man" populated commercials, movies and TV for far too long.

I get it. The pendulum swings hither and yon, to and fro. Perhaps one of the web's conversational benefits is brands see customers as people instead of "consumers" or "users".

We are neither simply consumers or users. We are people caught in a divine comedy. MEN aren't cardboard stereotypes meant to supply a cheap punchline or a cliche or two. We men are hard working, confused and learning as we go much like our beautiful sisters.

If the web can eliminate nasty yet ubiquitous cardboard stereotypes every man on the planet will be in the web's debt. What great "men are for real" campaigns have you seen this year?

Mobile 1/3 of Google Organic Search Even As It Reduces Year over Year Searches

Mobile 1/3 of Google Organic Search Even As It Reduces Year over Year Searches | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Source: RKG [download page]

Notes: Mobile's 33% of Google search visits in Q1 2014 represented only a slight uptick from Q4 2013 (32%), but a more robust rise from 27%
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Expect this number to go up even as  mobile helps reduce the number of searches being done. Why?

* Apps = search less.
* Mobile is more social and so search less.
* Mobile is a "game console" where we "play" apps and connect so search less.

Widgets - Why Creating A Content Network With Widgets Is A Blue Ocean via @HaikuDeck | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Creating a distributed content network with widgets is a vast blue ocean of low cost, high reward Internet marketing today. Won't be that way for long.
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Writing a post for ScentTrail Marketing about widgetizing content marketing and wanted a quick @HaikuDeck to help explain. Why more Internet marketing teams aren't using widgets to create a conent network they OWN, can speak to directly and that provides instant feedback is beyond me.
