Selling SMM To The C Level

Selling SMM To The C Level | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
The CEO is not exactly tripping over themselves to integrate social media into your company's marketing plan. So, where does that leave you?

You are the chief marketing officer at your company and you have to approach the big man or woman about trying something out. The goal, to get them to sign off on putting major time and effort into a social media campaign....

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Great scoop by Jeff to share new insight on selling SMM to the C level. Remember to read Made To Stick by the Heath brothers. The other thing to keep in mind is the C level is all about the vision thing. Stay up in the clouds a little.

Ask your CEO to imagine where your brands will be in five years WITHOUT a strong social presence. Ask if they believe it was helpful, in the company's formative years, to focus and learn new things.

If they answer the first question with some version of the current situation. If they answer question two with a firm NO then RUN don't walk to a new job.

Of course the board of directors will want your CEO to be fretting about the financials and not about the next blog post but Dave Thomas's tips may help you convince them.

The first quant to create an algorithm that can estimate the value of content marketing is going to make a few bucks. The problem is no ONE piece of content or tool is the answer. They all are and that is what makes CEO panic, CFO squirm and SMO look for work :).

10 Ways Leading Brands Use Facebook Ingeniously For Their Marketing | Jeffbullas's Blog | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Many companies are still figuring out social media marketing. Businesses are starting to realize that Facebook and other social media channels can influence their target market to create massive traffic and sales.

...Today, if you can get your prospect to “like”, “comment”, and/or “share” your content on Facebook, you are indirectly marketing to their entire sphere of influence. One single “like” may potentially be seen by many friends on a person’s contact list.

It’s those secondary contacts that reflect how the audience has shifted dramatically and how the entire sales conversation is now different. It is the power of the amplification of conversations that start at “one to many” and then become exponential and move to “many to many”.

So how are big brands leveraging this power to their benefit?
Here are 10 ways that big brands are using Facebook to tap into this limitless potential....

How to Setup Your Brand New Pinterest Business Page | Jeffbullas's Blog

How to Setup Your Brand New Pinterest Business Page | Jeffbullas's Blog | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Pinterest is booming. The site grew to 26.7 million unique visitors last month. This rapid growth has drawn businesses, especially retailers, to expand their presence on the site. Pinterest has just announced Pinterest pages for business.

My, those folks over at Pinterest have been busy! In the space of a few short weeks, users have been surprised by 3 new rollouts – verification of Pinterest accounts, the introduction of secret boards and now, the ability to create business pages.

So what does this new update mean for business owners? After all, it was not too long ago that Pinterest was warning us about self-promotion and commercial usage was downright prohibited.
Nevertheless, thousands of businesses have flocked to Pinterest since its inception in 2009 to create accounts and drive brand awareness in the hope of boosting sales.

Perhaps Pinterest has finally acknowledged that it’s time to woo the business community right before the crucial holiday season? Or maybe it’s testing the water for its monetization plans?...

[This is a positive development for marketers with one caveat. Watch for the terms of reference. Pinterest owns all material posted; not always the right situation for every business. ~ Jeff]

Research: The View Of Social Business From The C-Suite

Research: The View Of Social Business From The C-Suite | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Research that shows how executives view the importance of social business within the organization.

Just yesterday, MIT Sloan in collaboration with Deloitte released a study, “Social Business: What Are Companies Really Doing?” that highlights the growing importance of social business initiatives. What I found most interesting was the view and perceptions from the C-Suite.

According to the research, C-level executives vary considerably in their perceptions about the value of social business to their organizations today. On average, and across all industries in the study, CEOs, presidents, managing directors, board members and CMOs are most likely to perceive social business as an important business initiative today. CEOs are twice as likely as CFOs and nearly twice as likely as CIOs to view social technologies as important right now. Below is the breakdown....
